“I began working with SDLG several months ago after a Bupa lab I had previously used decided to take internal referrals from the practice they were attached to.

Whenever starting to work with a new lab, there is always an unknown of how the relationship between practitioner and technician is going to pan out, as well as the standard of the finished product. However, since working with Precision I have found the service to be outstanding and the team very accommodating. I have used the lab for both crown and bridgework as well as acrylic and chrome dentures. Whether I have sent scans digitally or taken impressions, the products I have received have been to a very high standard.

The manager and team are always on hand for any advice or questions regarding cases to try and get the best outcome for patients. Recently, I have collaborated with the lab on a large restorative case involving numerous crowns and chrome denture work with several discussions had back and forth to get the desired outcome. The results have been above and beyond, making my job as the dentist so much easier.

We have even had an in-house visit to our practice from the lab manager to go through new materials, importance of correct shade taking and how to improve the outcome using a digital workflow, giving us here at the practice a greater appreciation of the information a technician requires to deliver high quality lab work.

Simon has led the board of SLG since its creation in 2018 steering the group through the successful acquisitions of Precision Dental Studio and Precision DentaCare. Under his leadership, SLG has grown into a trusted partner for clinicians across the country, with a clear focus on excellence, innovation and long-term relationships. With over a decade of involvement in UK private dentistry, Simon is a passionate advocate for the pre-eminence of quality in dentistry and the vital nature of the close, trusting relationship between dental lab and clinician, mirroring that between the dentist and their patients.

Simon holds a PhD in Pharmacy and has worked in both NHS and retail pharmacy.

JP is the Managing Director of Savernake Dental Laboratories and has over 25 years of experience running Laboratories, Practices and Dental companies.  He has worked with many internationally recognised Dental brands and has consulted and lectured extensively within the industry.  He was the founder and owner of Allport Dental Group, a company that operated 8 Laboratories, over 7 countries, including Allport & Vincent and Byte Dental Laboratories here in the UK.  He has a special interest in digital dentistry and has developed several successful international Dental products and brands.

Alan has been in the dental industry since 1998. A multi-disciplined crown and bridge technician for the first 10 years of his career saw him manage two high end private laboratories simultaneously, growing his knowledge and skill base into implant and prosthetic fields through the next 10.

In 2018 Alan took the reigns at Precision Dental Studio and now oversees the day to day running of the laboratory. His role is three fold, to make sure the highest standards of quality and service are maintained within the laboratory, to strive to improve quality and maintain our position at the cutting edge of technology, and to use his knowledge and skill-set to offer advice to clients on all aspects of dental technology.

With an early foundation in clinical dentistry, I transitioned into the garment rental industry, spending over 15 years developing expertise in operations, leadership, and team management. In 2017, I returned to the dental field with Precision, beginning in Crown and Bridge model preparation before progressing into the Diagnostics department. There, I gained valuable experience in appliance manufacture and case planning.

While I enjoyed the technical work, my strengths in leadership and process improvement led to a move into management. I now serve as Deputy Manager, working closely with the leadership team to maintain Precision’s high service standards. I’m passionate about continuous improvement and regularly refine workflows to ensure the best possible outcomes for our clients.

Ian began his dental career in 1981 as an apprentice at Broughton and Tyrell, qualifying in 1986 with a BTEC Diploma in Dental Technology. He went on to manage several departments within the lab, gaining valuable experience across the business.

In 1994, Ian co-founded Marlborough Dental Laboratory with Alan Holder, initially focusing on crown and bridge work. Due to growing demand from clients, the lab quickly expanded into a full-service facility, which in turn led to the growth of the team.

After joining Savernake Laboratory Group in 2019, Ian continued to co-manage the lab with Alan until his retirement in 2024. He now shares the running of the laboratory with Simon Henderson.

Simon began his 30-year journey in the dental industry in Glasgow at the age of 18. He started his apprenticeship while attending night school, before moving to Dorset to complete his qualification in Southampton.

He went on to develop his expertise in a large laboratory, where he managed a strong team of skilled technicians. In 2007, Simon opened his own laboratory, specialising in private implant, crown, and bridge work.

In 2023, he joined the Savernake Dental Group and now co-manages Marlborough Dental with Ian Bridger, where together they are committed to providing clients with the highest standards of work and service.

Group Digital Director | Key Opinion Leader | Expert in Digital Dentistry & Ceramic Restorations

With over two decades of experience in dental technology, Jonathan Proudlock is the Group Digital Director of Savernake Laboratory Group (SLG) and Laboratory Manager of Solway Crown and Bridge. He began his career in 2000, joining the family-run laboratory after qualifying from Newcastle with a special interest in ceramics and implantology.

In 2008, Jonathan trained on 3Shape technology, a pivotal moment that marked the beginning of his journey in digital dentistry. Since then, he has remained at the forefront of digital innovation, working closely with Skillbond to develop their milling centre and regularly lecturing on advanced digital workflows.

In 2023, he led the successful integration of Solway Crown and Bridge into SLG, where he now collaborates with other managers and leading dental laboratories to deliver world-class restorations and refine cutting-edge digital processes.

A respected Key Opinion Leader, Jonathan represents major dental brands including Elos, Shofu, Skillbond, Dentsply, and Rapidshape. His passion for excellence, innovation, and education continues to drive advancements in the field of dental technology.

I started my career at Precision in 2003 as a lab assistant, learning the basics of prosthetics from the ground up. After qualifying with an HND in Dental Technology from Edinburgh Telford College while working at Newcastle Dental Hospital, I returned to Precision in 2012 as a fully qualified technician. I was later promoted to Prosthetics Department Manager, where I developed the team and continued hands-on casework.

In 2024, I became Assistant Lab Manager, helping lead our transition into digital workflows, and in 2025 I stepped into the Lab Manager role. While overseeing the day-to-day running of the lab, I still take pride in producing high-end, complex cases—maintaining our commitment to the highest standards of quality and our ethos of precision with personality.

From the age of 15, I’ve been passionate about dental technology, starting out in a lab during evenings and weekends. I went on to study at Newcastle College, qualifying with a BTEC National Diploma, and have now spent 25 years with Precision Dentacare. I began as a Crown and Bridge technician and at the beginning of 2025 got promoted to Deputy Manager. In this role, I oversee quality control, support staff development, and help drive our digital dentistry initiatives.

I’m committed to maintaining high standards across the lab and enjoy sharing my experience with the team. Outside of work, I’m an endurance runner and have completed several ultra marathons, including two 70-mile Hadrian’s Wall events. I also enjoy DIY and hands-on projects.

Gary joined Sherring-Lucas in 1981, achieving the Advanced Crown & Bridge qualifications with distinctions, and progressing to become Chief Ceramist, and then Joint owner of Sherring-Lucas in 1989.

Over the years, he has enjoyed advanced training at facilities all around Europe from some of the worlds leading technicians. Gary has won multiple national awards, including Aesthetic Restorative Technician of the Year, and his enthusiasm and passion for restorative dentistry remains strong to this day.

Our Deputy George joined our team in 2022 and continues to impress with his aptitude and excellent work ethic, especially when it comes to Cad Cam and Implants. That, plus his recent Graduation with Distinctions, drive and enthusiasm, has convinced us that he has a very bright future ahead in dentistry, and we are very happy to be a part of it.
